just wondering what everyone thought was the best world/dimention, whatever you want to call it.
personally, although AU has good series like Turn A, and SEED/SEED D, I'm going with UC, because that was not only the original, but has that feel to it that I just cant explain. the series arent as drawn out (maybe 79 is, but that's about it) and it's sorta the basis for all gundam in the AU.

AU has some nice series (G Gundam, Turn A), but UC gets my vote for (IMO) being more down to earth and serious as a whole. I'd kill a man for another UC show by now.

While I do enjoy some of the AU's... G, X and Turn A come to mind I prefer UC. AU has some shows I really, really dislike... and the goodness of the above 3 cannot pull it back to the levle of UC. Not saying I dislike none of UC *cough*08th*cough* but in whole I prefer it over the AUs.
Why... is a bit harder to figure out. I guess UC had a large cast of likeable characters and mobile suits. There are few characters in UC that I can say I truly hated as characters and none are the main characters. The same can be said for mobile suits in general too (ok... well I didn't care much for GP01 and Gundam Ground). AUs are different. For example I truly hate Kira and every single thing he piloted.
Some of the AUs even have the distinct problem of superly overpowered mobile suits where nothing can stand up to them at all. And that's the real problem... suits can be super powered all they want as long as stuff is able to stand up to them, once they are on the level of beating almost everything and can only fight another Gundam I didn't like. Because that also degrades the quality of battles.
Another thing I'm really disliking this whole sentai inspired team of Gundams... started as 5... now seems to have gone to around 3. Too many Gundams have started to degrade how special a Gundam is. And some are starting to portray them as super weapons that can win the war alone...
UC has the feel of connection which is a nice thing to see. It's nice to see how some characters have evolved over time, and what happens in the time after the first show ended. How the factions evolve.

As much as I love G and X, and like SEED and Destiny (and would like Turn-A had I seen it- I'll be getting it in the next week or so), UC just has that extra "something" that I love. It's got more style to it somehow, it feels more alive. I'm speaking mainly of MSG-CCA and V, but the rest is also good.

Gonna have to go with AU on this one. I will only talk about a few series for time's sake...: AU was always a bit more unrealistic, which was a better path to take most of the time. I find that some of the UC series are very overrated, such as Zeta. Sometimes it got so realistic I practically fell asleep. I'll be the first to admit it does have a consistent plot and realistic characters, but it just gets too boring mid-way through the series (but picks up once Paptimus becomes more active). Other UC series were just painful to watch (though of course there were some good ones). I just could care less what happened to most of the protagonists, and the "villains" were just too dorky and predictable. Of course, my favorite AU is G Gundam. I have a hard time understanding why people don't like it; since it's not supposed to be orthodox. It really is a great series all around, and boasts some of the most wackiest Gundams in Gundam history. The characters are also hard to like at first, but eventually grow on you. SEED, on the other hand, is a mixed bag. If you look at the entire series on a whole, it's fairly mediocre. I just find it to unbelievable that someone like Kira who was so bent on not fighting ultimately receives one of the best Gundams in the CE era, and greatly out-performs everyone else in piloting skills. Going a little bit further, Kira extremely bothers me in SEED Destiny. But anyway, SEED does have some cool elements. I personally thought the mecha was pretty neat, utilizing older designs and revamping them into new, cooler, and flashier designs. I would say SEED Destiny is, at the moment, a toss-up. Like SEED, SEED Destiny continues to use older designs and renovate them, and the majority of them turned out well. The biggest problem so far is that we're over the half-way mark already, and still a lot needs explaining. Can't comment on Turn-A, haven't seen it yet. I'll add more once I get the chance.

I'm probably gong to piss alot of people off but I'm going to be a fence sitter and say I prefer neither but l both.
I saying this because I really do like some UC(MSG, 0083, V) and AU(G, X, Turn A) while at the same time I really dislike some of the UC(Zeta, 8th, ZZ) and AU(Wing, SEED, SEED : Destiny).

I prefer UC hands down. Some of the stuff got boring for me but over all I liked the plot and characters better. I also enjoyed the more realistic feel to it. Though I did like some AU's like G and TAG. I need to finish X and ZZ though.
I Don't have anything to particularly much against some of the AU's besides the normal complaints about characters and the Mech's. I just found SEED and Destiny too bright which was a negative from the very start. And with Wing...I grew out of that pretty quickly.
Victory has become my Favorite series, but CCA wins over everything else.

i'm a UC fan. i once was a Winger. then i sorta slowly moved to UC and now i hate Wing. but there are UC series i hate (8th, 0080), i find that i complain more about AU. i hate everything about SEED. the Gundam design, the horrible Zaft MS names, the characters i simply cannot like. and i especially hate Turn-A. there's just way more of UC that i like.
